889 students from OP Jindal Global university graduated in a dazzling ceremony on August 8 at Indira Gandhi Stadium. The founder’s day and eighth convocation celebrations also included two doctoral candidates from the Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences. Most of the graduate students are planning to pursue their studies further.

Ms. Zarin Daruwala, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank in her special address drew the attention of students towards the significance of digital payments in disrupting global business scenario which is causing major threats to banks in India. She further added that it took time for investment bankers like her to match pace with rapid technological innovations in past two decades.   In his convocation address, Professor David Wilkins, Vice Dean, Harvard Law School said, “You must view this convocation as not the end of education but as the beginning. School is the easy part. The hard part is to learn to live in the real world. Education must be viewed as a life-long occupation and passion.”

He urged students to observe learning as a lifetime opportunity and not just a lesson for immediate future.  Acknowledging the vision of JGU as a self-sustainable and adaptive model of education, Professor Wilkins emphasised the need of multi-disciplinary educational institutions which shape young minds according to industry requirements. Commending the steps taken by Indian government, he added that Indian experience can teach a lot to other countries of world.
