The University Grants Council (UGC) on Tuesday issued revised guidelines to universities and educational institutes across India for conducting terminal semesters and final year examinations. The revision comes a day after the Union Ministry of Home Affairs issued an advisory telling all colleges to conduct pending exams by the end of September.
The UGC guidelines clearly states that exams should be completed by the end of September in either online, offline, or blended mode of conduct. All the existing social distancing norms and preventive measures should be kept in mind while conducting the examination.
The UGC statement read, “The provision shall be applicable only for the current academic session 2019-20 as a one-time measure. The guidelines regarding intermediate semester/year examination, as notified on 29.04.2020 will remain unchanged.”
The Home Ministry on Monday had said in a statement that the final-term examinations are ‘to be compulsorily conducted as per the UGC guidelines on examinations and academic calendar for the universities and as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) approved by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.’
